24 HoL: Saturday (Black Flagstravaganza)

Fantastic day! After an hour or so, we were as high as 13th out of 75 teams, but we suffered a couple of penalties throughout the day, which caused us to fall in the standings. I don't mean to throw my teammates under the bus here, but...I'm going to anyway:

• Andrew - two wheels off - bribed our way out of it by bringing the judges four iced teas.

• Ryan - passing under yellow and team arguing - 30 minutes out of the race and the Ozzie Osbourne Inertia Penalty Horn.

• Kang - passing under yellow - "Barnyard" (had a metal rooster welded to our roof). We escaped another 30 minute penalty by bribing the judges with a bottle of Jack Daniels.

The penalties really killed us. We went from 13th, to 14th, to 23rd, and to 26th, before managing to claw our way back to 20th at the end of the day. Worse, the judges told us that if we incurred one more penalty, we would be out of the race. Uh oh. Despite the risk of throwing it all away, we hung it out there and were rewarded with a better position going into Sunday.

Okay, I really gotta get some sleep. More news tomorrow.
